Dismantling of a 55m high steel chimney.
DDS undertook the dismantling of the 55m high redundant SSE chimney structure, down to ground floor level, within the Smurfit Kappa Snodland facilities.
The chimney was deconstructed in a piecemeal fashion; using a burner, operatives occupying a MEWP segregated sections, which were then lifted to the ground designated landing area utilising a crane. All works were rigorously supervised and monitored, mitigating the risk of uncontrolled collapse.
